Youth Education Director

Ilana Burgess
Ilana Burgess, the Youth Education Director of Congregation Or Zarua

Ilana has been actively involved as an educator and as a volunteer over the course of thirty years in the various Jewish communities in which she has lived. Growing up in Hungary in a strongly anti-Semitic environment, Ilana was raised by parents who taught their children to be proud Jews who loved Jewish holidays and traditions and who saw to it that their children were educated about Israel and about their Jewish heritage and its values.

After sixteen years of living and working in Israel, Ilana moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where she was a principal and teacher for fifteen years. For the two years immediately prior to joining Or Zarua Ilana was a Hebrew and Bible teacher at the Solomon Schechter High School of New York.
