SUMMARY:Gleaning Project\, Erev Thanksgiving - Volunteers Needed!
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday evening\, Nov. 25\n\nJust a reminder that it is again
the season for OZ’s Erev Thanksgiving and Erev Christmas Gleaning Proje
ct and Eli Zabar is again extending his generosity to donate food from som
e of his retail outlets. Thanksgiving falls on November 26 so that our Gle
aning Project will take place on the evening of Wednesday\, November 25. T
he Gleaning Project on Erev Christmas will take place on Thursday evening\
, December 24.\n\nAs in past years\, the Gleaning will take place at Eli
’s Market on Third Avenue/80th Street and Eli’s Essentials outlets at
 87th Street/Lexington Avenue\, 91st Street/Madison Avenue and 73rd Street
/Madison Avenue. The starting times have not yet been determined but last
year the starting time at Eli’s Market was 7:15 pm and the starting tim
 e at 87th/Lexington was 8:00 pm. Last year\, and most years post-COVID\, t
he other locations involved loading a truck with the already packed donati
ons. I am hoping that this year we will be able to do more of the actual p
acking.\n\nAs I say each year\, the Gleaning Project has always been a gre
at project for the children of the OZ community. For some\, it is the firs
t lesson towards understanding that there are many members of this and oth
er communities within New York City who are not as fortunate as are most o
f us and but for what we gather and deliver they would be without a Holida
y meal. For many it becomes the primary meal for more than one day.\n\nPle
ase let me know as soon as you can if you are interested in participating
on either or both Gleaning nights by email at jeff32449@verizon.net or by
text message or telephone call at (917) 697-1677.\n\nThanks for your consi
deration of this Project\,\n\nJeff Haberman\n\nMember\, Congregation Or Za
