SUMMARY:Regina Stein - Elijah: From Religious Zealot to Harbinger of Peace
DESCRIPTION:3 sessions: Oct 18\, 25\, Nov 8 (in person)\n\n10:00-11:30 am\n
\nWho was the prophet Elijah? Biblical stories portray him as a single-min
ded\, religious zealot and miracle worker. How did he become the forerunne
r of the messiah? Why does he still play a major part at Passover\, at the
conclusion of Shabbat\, and at circumcisions? We will examine Elijah’s
career to gain a greater understanding of the variety of roles he continue
s to play in our own Jewish rituals and customs.
