On Purim we read Megillat Esther. And on Passover – always 30 days later – we read Song of Songs. Both holidays mark crucial events of our redemption by G-d from imminent genocidal annihilation by the rulers of our exilic host nations. But the stories we read could not be more different in tenor from the events we make it a duty to remember, and they could not be more different from each other in their narrative structures.
