Information Session Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 PM (via Zoom)

Dear Or Zarua Community,

We are excited to share an important and energizing update about the future of Jewish education and synagogue connection at Or Zarua.

We are proud to announce a new partnership with the 92nd Street Y’s ATiD program—an innovative, high-quality Jewish learning experience designed to engage students in meaningful, developmentally appropriate ways while strengthening their connection to Jewish life and community.

What this means for Or Zarua families:

  • Or Zarua will continue to have a Hebrew School. This partnership enhances—not replaces—our commitment to Jewish education and insures our children benefit from both excellent classroom learning, the wider Jewish social scene, and deep synagogue connection.
  • Through ATiD on Tuesday afternoons at the 92Y, students will participate in a dynamic Jewish learning program with experienced educators, small class sizes and a thoughtful, grade-based curriculum that builds Jewish identity, literacy, and values. Hebrew instruction is integrated into the program. A new director has recently updated and enhanced the AtiD curricula and brings years of educational leadership to her role.
  • Being part of the 92nd Street Y will help enlarge the student cohort, creating a more vibrant and dynamic peer group while still maintaining small class sizes for individualized attention.
  • The cost will be in line with what our Or Zarua families have been paying, with discounted tuition available through the partnership, a benefit to shul members.
  • Families will remain closely connected to Or Zarua through synagogue life and Shabbat events for families.

Rabbi Bolton has thoughtfully designed a Monday experience so that students may add a second day to their Jewish education – “Parsha & Pizza, Hebrew, Israel & Torah Trope” for sixth and seventh graders. Eighth-grade and High School students will be able to learn Jewish History & Parsha once a month with the rabbi over dinner. We seek to deepen connections through Family Shabbat Experiences, as well.

To learn about what’s to come, we invite you to join us for a ZOOM information session Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 PM.

This session will include the Director of ATiD, Rachel Arcus-Goldberg, and Rabbi Bolton who will share insights into the program and answer any questions.

We look forward to having you join us on May 14 and to embarking on this exciting next chapter together.

Warmly,

Hannah Kranich

Rabbi Bolton
