6:00 pm. Join us for a light Israeli-style meal of falafel, pita and salatim, wine and seltzer as we watch an episode from the Israeli comedy series Checkout (“Kupa Rashit”). Described as a “microcosm of Israeli society”, Checkout follows the hilarious antics of a diverse cast of customers and staff of a struggling Israeli supermarket. Launched with little fanfare, the show quickly gained a cult following that propelled it to smashing primetime success — culminating with the series earning Best Sitcom Award honors at the 2020 Israeli Academy Awards.
7:00 pm. The feature film is the 2024 Israeli award-winning movie Real Estate. With a baby due and their Tel Aviv apartment facing demolition, an expectant couple’s frantic search for a home in Haifa turns into a moving, relatable, and quietly humorous journey into the realities of modern Israeli life and the depths of their love.
