“Society for Protecting Nature or Nature Protecting Society?”
A two-part talk by Jay Shofet, senior environmentalist with the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI), from the bimah, then after Kiddush. Jay will share why Israeli nature is so special, and how the healing power of nature is healing tens of thousands of Israelis reduce syptoms of anxiety, stress and trauma in the wake of the horrific events of October 7, and in the shadow of the ongoing war.

Jay Shofet is a veteran environmentalist who oversees SPNI’s global resource development and international relations. Born and raised in New York, Jay lives in Tel Aviv, is married to best-selling cookbook author Adeena Sussman and has two children; his daughter Shani and family are currently internally displaced from their home on a northern border kibbutz.
