6:00 pm, Siyyum
6:25 pm, L’chaim and nosh
6:45 pm, Minhah, Kabbalat Shabbat, Ma’ariv
Before services this Friday night come join for learning and a nosh. We will make a Siyyum on Pirke Avot – a celebration for completing the study of a tractate of Mishnah. We will also honor the memory of Lori Gilbert-Kaye who was killed in the Chabad Synagogue in San Diego. We need a minyan! Lori’s dedication to the Jewish People and Jewish life inspires us to continue gathering for Jewish life in the synagogues we call home. Please come make the minyan, learn in her honor and be here for the special Kaddish we recite at the end of studying a tractate of Mishnah with commentaries. Great ethical lessons and character development suggestions are the hallmark material of Pirke Avot; we will look at some of the highlights of the tractate. As Hillel said, (in Pirke Avot) – if I am not for myself, who will be for me? and if I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now (Friday, 6:00 pm for the Siyyum!) when?! Between the learning and services we will enjoy a light nosh and a l’chaim!
