The OZ Book Club is planning a short story summer seminar via Zoom on Sunday evening July 11, 2021, at 7:00pm. We will be discussing five selections from a list of ten contemporary short story recommendations on topics of Jewish interest. The stories are available free on line. The narratives cover diverse themes, settings and styles. Each story is no longer than 12 pages long. They are well written and engaging. There is a brief introduction for each.
The stories can be accessed by the following link:
Google: Jewish Short Stories Reflections and Recommendation’s July 21.2020/
Titles of stories:
“Address Unknown “A” * Address Unknown” by Katherine Kressman Taylor.
“ Beautiful Souls by Joan Leeguat
*”The Abandoning” by Zeeva Bukai
“ The Butcher of Desire; or Imagining Philip Roth” by Sam Apple
“ Operation Tamar” by Omer Friedlander
It will be interesting to explore which of the stories was most popular and why. For those who could not read all of the choices cited, please join the meeting anyway. The option of reading them at a later time is always available. If one of the selections not identified intrigued you, please share your insights. We look forward to a lovely, lively, literary evening discussing great fiction by emerging writers.
