Wednesday, Nov. 22, Erev Thanksgiving
At Thanksgiving time, we try to help those who are less fortunate, particularly those who don’t have enough to eat. As a community, we’ll work with local stores to gather leftover food and deliver it to those in need.
Eli Zabar is again extending his generosity to donate food from some of his retail outlets. Thanksgiving falls on Nov. 23 so that our Gleaning Project will take place on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 22. The Gleaning Project on Erev Christmas will take place on Sunday evening, Dec. 24. The Gleaning Project has always been a great project for the children of the OZ community. For some, it is the first lesson towards understanding that there are many members of this and other communities within New York City who are not as fortunate as are most of us and but for what we gather and deliver they would be without a Holiday meal. For many it becomes the primary meal for more than one day.
