Torah, IP, Art and Beyond: Who Owns It? Why Does It Matter?
Supposedly Moses received all Torah that would ever be taught at Mt. Sinai. Why are certain Sages named as having taught lessons if Moses already “owns” them? The United States was set up with intellectual property laws; the Constitution gives a reason. How do these apply to
agencies granting kosher supervision? Is there evidence in the Torah of an intellectual property laws framework? And with art, is an artist’s style protected? The visual image? Is who painted it and or who owned it more important to collectors? Does an art movement in the style of an artist increase or decrease the value of certain artpieces, because of the borrowing of the styles and palettes?
Come learn with our panel:

Ben Charkow, partner at Maschoff Brennan focusing on intellectual property law
