Tikkun Panel: “The Written Word in the Digital Age”
Our congregants Hana Alberts, Jane Levere, and Arlene Simon will present about the explosion of online and digital publications and how it has created new ways to read and new channels for journalism. Has quality of writing improved, stayed the same, changed? What is the impact on the written word as more writing, journalism and text books take digital formats? Our panelists will present about their specialized areas of journalism and editing. Rabbi Bolton will reflect on whether a digital library of Torah volumes or Talmud and other Jewish sources retains its sanctity when it is digitized.
Hana Alberts is the home and travel editor of the New York Post. She oversees residential real estate coverage for a weekly print section and the website, as well as commercial real estate and travel sections.
Jane L. Levere is a highly experienced, NY-based journalist. She has been freelancing about a wide variety of subjects – including leisure, business and online travel; the arts, design and architecture; advertising and media; and commercial real estate.
Arlene Simon had a long career as a medical editor at the Harvard Medical School in Boston. Her last major project was the editing of a pediatric neurosurgery textbook that is completely online.
