Israelis aboard the FlyDubai flight broke out into song when they were rescued from the clutches of a suicidal terrorist who was looking to crash the plane and kill everyone. What a nes, a public miracle, that the plane dropped 15,000 feet in forty seconds, human beings found the way to cooperate to save and sanctify life and subdue an evildoer. While in the air preparing for an emergency landing, the passengers recorded videos oif themselves singing, fist-pumping in the air. It went viral:
The song rang out: HaShem Yitbarakh tamid ohev oti v’yihiyeh li rak tov….od yoter tov, od yoter tov!! God, the Holy One Blessed is our Lord, always shows me love and I can see a future of goodness, and more goodness, and yet more!
We already added that song to our Simhat Torah celebrations last year when the popular tune was all over Israel and the Jewish world when the hostages came home. While Simhat Torah and October 7th are difficult days for us now, as a family, a nation and a people, we commit to sanctifying the memories of those murdered in Israel.
From the Nova Festival survivors and their families we heard “Keep on Dancing!” and our way of showing strength and resilience is to keep on singing and dancing at our Simhat Torah celebrations Saturday night and Sunday. Please come add your spirit!
Shabbat Shalom and Hag Sameah,
Rabbi Bolton
